Using a video made by a graphic design student, Mitchell Counsel, students will use what they know about adaptations, symbiosis, types of consumers and food chains to answer questions about an alien world. The video is under three minutes long which allows for teachers to play the video several times to allow students to focus not only on the story but also the different scientific aspects in play. I was nominated and featured in the 2013 Center for Digital Education (CDE) Yearbook Issue, a magazine that showcases innovative teaching techniques using technology. I was one of fifty educators chosen based on an independent study I completed to integrate intercultural communication with technology while focusing on standards. All of the software and internet programs used for this study were free, open use and allowed the students to establish pen pals in Pakistan. I presented at the Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organizations’ Spring Conference Roundtables in March 2013 for this study.
