This year I have entered my 11th year in the teaching profession working many subject areas and all grade of the middle school experience. All the activities, notes, and ideas from my store have been run by one of my actual classes prior to being posted and I thank them for being my guinea pigs and helping me work out the kinks!
These notes are designed to help students connect independent and dependent variables to domain and range though graphs. They will also identify graphs as discrete or continuous.
Students must analyze a table to determine if it has a linear relationship (constant rate of change) and if so, if the relationship is also proportional and what the proportional constant is.
For this activity, students must match up sets of basic law of exponent problems with a common answer. There are 4 common answers each with a matching division, multiplication, and power to a power problem.
This can be used as either a review or a exit slip on the three types of static transformations. Students are required to reflect, rotate, and translate a single point on a coordinate plane.
Students will learn the basics of how to write a function using recursive function notation and practice writing geometric and arithmetic sequences. They will also explore how recursive functions can be used to write the Fibonacci sequence.
This activity is set up for groups but can be done individually. Students are given a scenario involving a business and must make a linear function rule to represent the situation. They are then asked to analyze the impact of real world constraints on domain and range and create a graph to illustrate their analysis.
This short exit pass is designed to see if students can go from a concrete model to a linear algebraic rule. For the first part they must also justify whether they would use a continuous or discrete graph to display their data.
This is a quick 10 question check in on writing sequence rules using recursive function notation. It can be used for an exit pass or warm up depending on the lesson structure.
These cards are designed to go from easiest to hardest. Students must work in teams to get the correct answer to each card before receiving the next card. This can help students reach students at whatever level they are at and extend for more students who are mastering the content more quickly.

I obtained my bachelors degree in History with a minor in professional education from West Chester University in 2009 and my Masters in Education Administration from Salisbury University in 2015.
