Middle School Reading Log : Cross Curriculum Differentiated Instruction
I created and use this reading log because of my own frustration with reading logs my own children would have to hand in. Generally, students are always required to read for a certain amount of time each night (usually 20 minutes). Unfortunately, the reality is that most people would like to read each night, but it is difficult to find that time EVERY single night. Many children have other homework and obligations that prevent that from occurring. With this reading log I was able to achieve

Teaching style
Ensure that the students are happy and WANT to attend school everyday. A student who WANTS to be in class will have a higher aptitude and desire to learn. Let students see you as their teacher and a "real" person. They are more likely to work hard and achieve more if they are invested in NOT letting you, the teacher down. When they view you as an individual, they will naturally want to do their best work for you.
