Teaching style

At Practical Learning Online we think exposing your student to current events promotes both the development of critical thinking skills as well as provide them with the information to make important decisions in their life. The format for Practical Learning Online is the same as the discussion question format for many online courses taught at the high school and college level. We post interesting topics or questions on the site and invite the users to make a comment. We seek to reach our learning objectives with the users by requiring them to respond to the topics with the use of articles, examples, and/or references to support their facts. Our current event lesson plans introduce the student to the subject so they can begin the process of critically analyzing the subject. This is what we call the ability to Pract The Facts!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Student Comments: Professor Godwin is an excellent professor. He gives extra reading material that is related to the subject matter in an effort to assure that students getting a wide range in order to improve their skills. He goes beyond the call of duty in order to motivate students. He is very approachable and helpful......... Professor Godwin is the most engaging distance learning professor I have ever had with the University. The amount of additional discussion and 'extra credit' in the weekly discussion questions is phenomenal. He takes his job seriously and truly wants to teach versus it being a cookie cutter response........... The instructor was very good at making us think about real world issues, and I think that this will help all of us as well move forward in our careers.
