About the store

Experience

I am a retired mechanical engineer who, upon retirement, became a middle and high school math and science teacher via the lateral entry process in NC. I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade math and science and 9-12 grade math (Math 1, 2 and 3, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry and Precalculus) over the last 15 years.

Teaching style

I typically use a 4-prong approach to teaching math and science in my classroom: 1) 8 to 10 minute presentation (usually a ppt) to introduce and provide some basic instruction for a new math topic, 2) a guided notes paper with lots of blanks to be jointly completed by my students and me, 3) online or hard copy practice worksheets to reinforce the current concepts and confirm understanding and 4) multiple, relevant, hands-on projects to connect the various math and science subjects to the real world. I am a strong proponent of Project Based Learning (PBL) using STEM projects and lessons. I use my Smartboard and document camera daily during class. Note: I use all of the MS PPT products that I have listed on TpT website in my own classrooms.
