Primary Packrat

Use these cards for quick, fun practice adding and subtracting 1, 10, or 100 to three-digit numbers. There are 24 cards in this set. Pass the cards out to students (Some students may need to share cards or have more than one card). The student with the card stating, “I will start” reads his card first. Whoever has the answer to that card reads the answer on his card and then reads his question. Students continue until all cards have been read. Time students, and have them try to beat their time.

These activities are aligned to the Common Core State Standards: 2OA.2 - Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers). I created these activities as fun, engaging ways for my second graders to master the harder addition facts.
