This is a great book to get your class thinking about what a good classmate looks like. You can use this as a stand alone worksheet or edit the cover with your name, grade, year and bind everyone’s writing into a class book. You could also have partners work together to fill out the worksheet. Primary kids could draw pictures! Then you could come together as a class and fill in an anchor chart together. Just make an anchor chart that looks like the worksheet!

I always want to give my students something for an end of year gift but I don't want to spend a lot of money. I also want it to be easy and something that will benefit my students. For the past few years I have given my students four dice games that we have used for morning tubs and in math throughout the year. You don't need to have taught the games already because families can use the directions to figure out how to play the games! The main expense is buying 3 dice for each student. If yo

I use a “write about reading” activity as part of my Work on Writing station each week. On Monday, I read the book as a read aloud. (If you don’t have the book, check to see if it is read on You Tube!) Then we discuss the prompt as a whole group and/or with partners so students will be able to work independently. Sometimes I record ideas on chart paper. This is helpful to put by the writing station so students can refer to it. You can use this as a stand alone worksheet or edit the cover

Spatial reasoning is an important skill for success in math. Pentominoes help kids develop and practice their spatial reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This product is only for classrooms using the literacy curriculum Center for the Collaborative Classroom, or CCC. These are the words in Being a Reader Sets 1-5 that need to be written on a whiteboard. I need EVERY second I can get with my groups, so I don’t want to take the time to write them out. I typed the decodable words and the words for the books that need to be written pre-reading. Set 5 has some skills words printed as well. Every page says the set #/week/day in the corner. Included i

What to do… Select a game mat and print it out. I like to print mine on cardstock and then laminate. Although they work just fine without being laminated. When you print select “FIT” so it fits on the page. If you don’t, the side borders will be cut off. Each mat will need two dice and 22 markers (11 markers for each player). You can use cubes, two-color discs, or my favorite…seasonal mini erasers! I usually find mine in the Target $ section. Directions… Put a game mat between two play

My first graders and I loved reading... Ada Twist, Scientist Iggy Peck, Architect Rosie Revere, Engineer Happy Birthday, Madame Chapeau They are fantastic for encouraging STEM and growth mindset. Included is one writing prompt for each book. After I read each book I used one prompt a week at my writing center during my literacy rotation. I cut the prompts into strips and students stapled it to the top of their paper. I liked that all I needed to do was copy the prompts but the writing paper

This game gives students practice comparing numbers using > , < , = symbols. It can be played alone or with a partner. Students spin a spinner two times. If playing with a partner each person will spin once. Students record their spin on one of the recording sheets, then compare the numbers using > , < , = symbols. One recording sheet has a “read it” column. Students read the equation and then draw a check in the checkmark. The recording sheet is great in a page protector or yo

Each week has a packet with different activities to practice the week’s high frequency words, as well as review high frequency words from prior sets and weeks. I do page one together in small groups and the remaining pages are part of student’s independent work. I use the words and sentences as quick checks with students. I updated this product to be more aligned with the Science of Reading. (The original produ
