Students can work with a partner or a small group to complete a pictograph charting the weather for a certain month. Each group has a different month to tally the various types of weather and then graph the results in a pictograph. The task is completed much faster if the pictures are pre cut by the teacher. Students also have to know where to place the labels for the graph. Questions about their results can be completed at the end of the task.

Using the research done by Fountas & Pinnell on handwriting instruction, I’ve put together a printing booklet that you can use with your students. Each page has an instruction box that gives the “verbal path for the formation of letters.” As well, a little reminder to use spaces between each letter!

This package is organized into short and long vowel sounds of many high frequency words for Grade 2 students. Each list should take about one week. Do your students need practise printing their numbers correctly? Taken from Debbie Diller's Math Stations book, these brightly coloured posters can be posted on the wall to help students remember to print their numbers. You could also make a book and place it in a math station for students to read together. These "catchy" rhymes are well loved by students!

This Reading Strategies Graph will help your students be mindful and keep track of the reading stragies they use each day and week. You can conference with each student about the strategies they are using consistently and ones they could use more to help them become better readers. An easy, quick "All About Me" poster for students to fill in during the first week of school. Students can draw pictures and add words about their favourite activities It is super easy to put on larger paper. Just hit auto zoom on your photocopier and it will increase to whichever paper size you prefer!
