This is a quiz that can be used to assess contractions. It includes a variety of different ways to show understanding. Included is multiple choice, fill, rewriting sentences, and forming sentences.
This is a sorting activity that can follow a less on the suffix "less" and "ful." Students look at base words and determine which suffix to put the base word under. They will discover that some base words can go with both suffixes. After sorting, students record their work on the recording sheet and create a definition.
This is a quick 7 problem quiz I used as a check in for area. It covers the following: basic area using squares, area without squares, area of larger rectangles where students need to use distributive property, area of compound shapes, and one word problem.
Here is a project that students can work on to show their understanding of measurement of time. The project includes the directions for students to create their "Dream Saturday". Students decide what they would do on their dream Saturday and create a timeline that covers one day's events. The project ranges from telling time, creating word problems based on their timeline, and later solving elapsed time problems. Students will also write a paragraph describing their day.

This product was used as a homework / study guide at home. Students completed this as homework and we reviewed it in class before the post test for area and perimeter.
Included topics are: Area / perimeter with squares, area / perimeter without squares, area / perimeter of compound shapes, area / perimeter of larger rectangles that require distributive property, missing side lengths, and word problems.
It was very comprehensive and I allowed two nights for students to complete :)

This is a letter that I send out prior to my math unit on multiplication. It explains how students will learn multiplication through arrays, equal groups, and repeated addition. The letter also shows parents the strategies we use so they may support their child at home. All standards and expectations are based on the common core standards.
This is a sorting activity that allows students to practice finding pairs of homophones. Students find two words that sound the same and place them under the two headers (word 1 and word 2). They verbally use the words in a sentence and check each other's understanding. After they've found the homophones, they record their work on a recording sheet and create definitions for the words.
This is a great introduction (or summative) lesson for prefixes. After having students learn the meaning of re and un I give them this sort. In pairs they create the headings (which I copy on colored paper) and then cut out the based words and put them under the correct heading. There is a worksheet that I use for them to fill out once they've sorted correctly that makes them think about the meaning of the words before and after adding the prefix.

This is a packet that helps students learn how to make nouns plural by adding s or es to the end of a noun. The packet focuses on the same words. I have used it as a whole packet or photocopied page by page and had students keep their work in a folder. The work ranges from sorts, sentences, fill - in. It also includes dotted lines for handwriting support.
This packet is meant to be used to review plural nouns with students. It focuses on nouns ending in "y" "f" and "fe." Students learn how to change the endings to make them plural. The packet is designed to be a five day unit. Each day the students work on a practice skill page. There is a noun game that requires minimal prepping. There is also a short assessment to see if the students learned the skill.
Personally, I teach my word study skill on Monday and then the students independently work
There are three different sets / levels of world problems for students to work on it. They are challenging and require students to apply critical thinking skills to understand the problem and attack it! This is meant to use after students have a strong understanding of area and perimeter.
My students love challenging word problems!
This is a letter that I send out prior to my math unit on place value. It states what students are expected to know from 2nd grade and how they will extend their learning in 3rd. It also shows parents the strategies we use so they may support their child at home. All standards and expectations are based on the common core standards.

Attached is a one page homework page for parallelograms. I have included a general ed and modified version of the same assignment. Students are asked to write down attributes of a parallelogram and then identify them in an assortment of shapes. At the bottom students are asked to find the perimeter of a parallelogram (review from our last unit)
Attached is a one page homework assignment that supports students' understanding of quadrilaterals.
Students are asked to identify attributes of a quadrilateral, identify quadrilaterals in an assortment of shapes, and then find the perimeter of a quadrilateral (review from our last unit)
This was a card game that my kids loved! I put them in the erasable mats so they can reuse the page. I also have digit cards 0-9 that the kids use with this game. They flip three cards over and round to the the numbers to the nearest ten. I turned it into a game by handing out counters (points) and the player with the higher number (once it was rounded to nearest ten) earned a point.
The kids played this game with rounding to nearest ten and hundreds!
This is a letter that I send out prior to my math unit on subtraction. It states what students are expected to know from 2nd grade and how they will extend their learning in 3rd. It also shows parents the strategies we use so they may support their child at home. All standards and expectations are based on the common core standards.
This is a powerpoint that I quickly made to teacher my 3rd graders what a parallelogram is.
Included in the powerpoint is a cut, sort, and glue activity with shapes that are considered parallelograms and not parallelograms. (I think teach this shape before rect, squares, and rhombuses)
Slides 1-3 are meant to be used whole class and the last two slides are meant for independent work.
(I also have uploaded a gen. ed and modified homework to supplement this lesson)

Experience
This is now my 4th year teaching. I have been teaching third grade for 2 years and taught 4th grade prior to that.
Teaching style
I love to make learning fun. I dedicate MANY countless hours to this profession. My weekends consist of searching and creating fun activities and lessons for the kids!
My own education history
I obtained my undergraduate degree in economics and management. I worked in an accounting field for a couple of years which I didn't feel suited me. I decided to get a masters in elementary education and become a teacher. I now do what I love!
