I create my materials with the following idea in mind: Young students benefit from a change of pace in learning and from a variety of instructional methods. They need to relax and unwind from the steady and unvaried intensity of concentrated acquisition of knowledge. They can benefit from materials that are entertaining and engaging but less transparent than normal. Books appeal to children and many books have been written for children. Digital books, like my PowerPoint presentations, can add a third dimension to the act of reading, when there is accompanying sound or other multimedia effects. Such material can be useful for capturing the attention of the child and motivating the student or raising his curiosity. Though not usually explicitly designed for teaching or drilling a specific detail of the school curriculum, my products, nevertheless, have impact, require interaction and are flexible enough in content to fit into most instructional agenda’s and to contribute to any discussion on any of several subjects in the curriculum.
