This is document 1 for the student's literacy binder. It is used during the goal-setting meeting with the teacher. The student will record the date, reading strategy and goal to practice. Once the student attains the goal, he or she will record the date met. The student can easily track which strategies have been mastered throughout the year, as well as checking the sheet to remind him or herself of the strategy to practice.

The advanced model for writing a response to reading and reflecting on strategy use. A rubric is included for students to self-assess the writing. This is document 4 for the student literacy portfolio.

A writing model for students to use in their literacy binder when identifying the meaning of new words in their reading. The student copies the sentence from the text and finds the definition which makes sense in context. Also includes a rubric for assessing.

This is document #2 for the student literacy portfolio. It is a chart for students to record books they have completed, the Lexile, the genre, and if the book was too challenging, just right, or too easy.

This is the schedule that I created to laminate so that students can write in their choices with a dry-erase marker and leave on their desk. This helps students to stay on track and remember change to their next activity. It also assists the teacher in making sure that the student is engaging in a variety of activities.
