This is a fun visual I use with my kids in regards to the Distributive property. I call it the dating property which works well with middle school kids. It shows a cute little scenario of dating history and pictures. Enjoy!

This is just an organizational outline of things "hidden" within the common core. It identifies the vocabulary your students need to know to better understand each unit. I listed the standard numbers and tidbits or tips that are needed with that standard (if any). For example, that ratio tables will only have whole numbers (not all rational numbers). Just tricks and tidbits from documents produced by the Ohio, New York, and North Carolina. It's free and just something that helps me organize!

This is a common core aligned challenge page great for higher level thinkers or gifted dealing with orders of operations. I usually use it as an incentive page (not for a grade). It could be done in groups or partners even.

I use this activity with my higher ability students (but others may be able to figure it out too). This activity gives students equations to solve by common sense or reasoning and then asks them to really thing mathematically about what they are doing. It aligns to the 6th grade common core standard for solving equations.

This is a worksheet based on one of the fifth grade common core standards. The focus is on multiplying by tens to show the pattern that occurs. This is a Raft Writing Template for Algebra. RAFT writing is a great way to incorporate perspective and a different method of assessment in math than just normal math homework. I use this style and method a lot with my gifted students!
