I have been a full time teacher since 2011! I have taught Spanish in elementary and high school. I am currently teaching K-4th grade Spanish in a non-immersion program. I use the Comprehensible Input approach to language learning. I also facilitate an ESL group for adults as a volunteer.
This is a Spanish unit is over an endangered species called quokkas. It takes a true story of an escaped quokka and makes it into a very memorable Spanish story. The story is delivered in the approach of Comprehensible Input, meaning it is very easy to understand and teach. I used these ideas with my 1st though 5th graders but it can be adopted to high school or even adults.

This is an original 3-part Embedded Reading and CLOZE lyric activity for basic ESL students. The Embedded Reading is aimed at helping beginners understand the song "Just The Way You Are" by the popular American singer Bruno Mars. This is a Spanish reading for beginners, aimed at the elementary or middle school age but it can be used for any age. It has a one-page story and a one-page vocabulary cheat sheet (La Chuleta).
This reading has been edited by a professional Spanish editor. It uses high frequency verbs and structures. I used this story to help preteach some of the vocabulary needed to read the Comprehensible Input book "Brandon Brown quiere un perro” by Carol Gaab.

My own education history
In 2021 I graduated with a MA in Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont.
In 2009 I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies. I studied for a semester in Leon, Spain in my undergrad. I have traveled to 19 different countries.
