Assign each student an invention to research. They will find out the who, what, where, why, and when. They will also create an ad for their assigned invention. I have found this activity to tie in well with the Industrial Revolution topic. Enjoy!

Groups can research an assigned amendment and complete the worksheet to keep their research on task. Then they can present. I do this worksheet with the Reconstruction Amendments (13, 14, and 15th Amendments). Works really well!

Student will read about a "monster" that you saw last night. There is a brief description of the "monster." The students will draw their version of the monster based on your description. They need to pay attention to the adjectives in order to develop their creature. Then you can discuss how they all knew what to draw. In the end it wasn't a monster at all.....it's a cat :) My classes have always loved this activity.

Students will research an assigned element from the periodic table of elements and can then share their findings. I have used this with students researching on a device or printing summary sheets from the internet in advance for classes that do not have access to technology to complete their research.

Students will use Google Earth to find a series of locations. Edit the list to fit your needs/lesson. They will have a blast launching off to new locations and viewing these places at street level. What can they learn about a place from seeing some of the landmarks? Time to find out!

Vocabulary recording sheet. Students can record definitions, examples, pictures, etc for each of their vocabulary words. Print as many pages as you need for your weekly word list. Each sheet has space for three words, if you need more simply change the numbers on the lefthand side to account for your wordlist.

This lesson uses an apple to show how valuable land is as a natural resource. Cutting the apple into sections to represent mountains, oceans, lakes, and parking lots will show how little land is left for growing crops.

This packet covers elementary level information about the sun and the earth. Vocabulary used includes: sun, orbit, axis, rotate, and equator. I have incorporated a variety of skills and creative outlets for the students to show their knowledge. There is even a speaking practice section at the end. Getting them to use the vocabulary can be tricky!!!

Students will pick one of the founding fathers and research via 3 different websites to write down quick facts. Then you could have students create a presentation or I have them make a "fakebook" page which is a facebook profile lookalike.

This activity has three headings (the same as, more than, less than). I currently have this set up for the number 16...but since it's a word document you'd be able to edit it to meet your level. I use one of these each week to review. Never let them forget :)

I use this sheet during our small group reading time. This allows students to choose their activity while I work with students in the back of the room. I usually spend about two weeks practicing each skill all together to build their stamina. You can edit the activities to fit what you are doing that week as well.

It can be hard to remember all of the accommodations and modifications when we teach multiple sections in a day. I made a summary chart that I fill out at the start of the year and then print one page per section so I can always refer back quickly. This has helped me to be ahead of the game when it comes to getting students what they need, when they need it! Maybe it will help you too!!
