Assign each student an invention to research. They will find out the who, what, where, why, and when. They will also create an ad for their assigned invention. I have found this activity to tie in well with the Industrial Revolution topic. Enjoy!

Groups can research an assigned amendment and complete the worksheet to keep their research on task. Then they can present. I do this worksheet with the Reconstruction Amendments (13, 14, and 15th Amendments). Works really well!

Student will read about a "monster" that you saw last night. There is a brief description of the "monster." The students will draw their version of the monster based on your description. They need to pay attention to the adjectives in order to develop their creature. Then you can discuss how they all knew what to draw. Vocabulary recording sheet. Students can record definitions, examples, pictures, etc for each of their vocabulary words. Print as many pages as you need for your weekly word list. Each sheet has space for three words, if you need more simply change the numbers on the lefthand side to account for your wordlist.

This lesson uses an apple to show how valuable land is as a natural resource. Cutting the apple into sections to represent mountains, oceans, lakes, and parking lots will show how little land is left for growing crops.

Students will take detailed notes about important people and their contributions during the War of 1812. Then they will cut out pieces and place them in order to create a timeline of events from the War of 1812. Hope they enjoy!
