I had students complete this project after we studied weather and weather maps/symbols. Students are given different cities that they must find/place on the map. (Maps are not included in this download--but you can find plenty of blank US maps online!)
Students are also given descriptions of the weather going on in those cities, but they have to practice using the correct weather map symbols.
You can have GT/GATE students come up with their own weather. :)

Need a fun way to introduce/review vocabulary for weathering, erosion, deposition? What better way than food? (Most specifically CANDY!) I had students eat a piece of candy at a time, and focus one each part (chewing=weathering, swallowing=erosion, pieces settling in stomach=deposition). Very simple and quick activity!
Students will get practice going through the process of the formation of sedimentary rocks by creating a 'comic' in which they describe the changes that occur in order to form sedimentary rocks. This product includes a student description, rubric, and the comic paper for them to work on, or you may choose to have them do it on plain white paper or construction paper so that they could have more creativity. :) I used this to review Texas TEK 5.7A, but it can be used for other grades and states.
