I use this foldable after I have taught a new concept for a few days. I have the students give me 3 things they have learned from the lesson, 2 things that still confuses them and 1 thing they really feel they understand that they feel they can explain to someone else. I use this as an exit slip and have them turn it so I can review their understanding before putting it in their notebooks.
I use this as a two part homework assignment. The first day, students are asked to restate the problem in their own words, determine the operation needed to solve the problem and draw a picture to represent the problem. They are not required to solve for an answer. After they turn it in, I review their work and give feedback based on what they wrote. This allows me to guide them and help the see things that they maybe didn't see when they did the assignment. The next day I give it back to t
