Students will create a game that requires the use of positive and negative numbers. Students can use this to review how numbers move on the number line, or review operations with rational numbers. Students can show their understanding of what they learned from a unit of study. This can also serve as practice for students to write explanatory texts. Students will be able to creatively show their understanding of how these numbers work in a fun way. This document consists of rubrics and directions

This project will ask students to use their measuring and math skills. Students will create a scale model of a building or landmark to show their understanding of scale copies. Students can combine the concepts of rates and ratios with this scale model project. Included are rubrics for teachers and peer review rubrics for the students. The third page is a rubric for selected standards related to the project. The final pages are instructions on how to implement the project.

Need a project that relates to the real world, while not taking too much class time? Need to add something to one of your math centers? This project is designed to only take about 10 minutes a day. Students will research about the gains and loses of stocks, then calculate this as if they own stock in companies. This document includes a rubric of the project, as well as rubrics for selected standards in 6th and 7th grade. The last page includes directions on how to implement this activity.

I have earned a bachelors degree in elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics. I have also earned a masters degree as an elementary and middle school mathematics specialist.
