This brief Power Point is meant to introduce students to the realities of slavery prior to the Civil War. This particular Power Point is for use in the middle school classroom, as students are preparing to learn about the Civil War and Reconstruction. In conjunction with this presentation, a reading of a personal slave narrative by the teacher is highly effective.
