The learning progressions are a teaching and learning resource that describe common pathways of literacy and numeracy development from Kindergarten/Prep to Year 10. The learning progressions map to the Australian curriculum in English and maths, demonstrating the development needed to meet stage outcomes. This Bump it Up Wall uses the Writing "Creating Texts' Sub-element as 'I can' statements, and can be used to determine what students know already, and what they need to learn next in a visible
This cute 'Troll' themed 'Bump it Up' wall is an excellent visual learning wall in which students set their own goals and go about achieving them. In order to track and encourage growth in ASPECT 7 - Measurement, I have created a detailed, interactive 'Bump it Up Wall' display, using the 'I can' statements. Students are able to set personal learning goals whilst making numeracy learning more visible in the classroom. Each critical aspect of the continuum is organised into clusters of behaviours
I created this choice board as an independent guided reading group activity for my stage 3 BYOD class. Each activity has ICT integrated within it and reference to the NSW Comprehension Clusters and Markers. Each activity is worth a select number of points which I award the students using class dojo.
If you would like to request a small change to suit your class, please send me a message.

In my class I use the Capacity Matrix, a Quality learning pedagogy, to drive student led learning. The students follow the NSW continuum of key ideas in maths (I choose the focus for the term based on our school scope and sequence) to explore, discover and learn on their own.
These posters provide the steps required to undertake their learning journey and all students set their book work out in this structure. It makes their learning easy to follow and organised. Every teachers dream!

Many teachers say go back and make your writing better, without knowing how to provide appropriate scaffolds and feedback to help students to improve their writing. There are a variety of strategies to support students in knowing what ‘better’ looks like. A ‘Bump it Up’ wall is one way that has proved to be a useful tool for improving w
My kids love to play and this game makes learning fun and easy.
The kids read their passage or text and on conclusion they throw the dice once to determine the strategy and again to determine which question they will answer. The kids take turns reading then answering the questions. I then select a few kids at the end of the guided reading session to share what their groups responses were. This really makes them want to listen to each other.

Use this recording sheet to guide your reciprocal reading groups. Each day the students will fill our their section as they rotate their jobs. The group leader's role is to support all their group members when filling out their sections. I usually allow 20 minutes for my reading time and finish with two minutes to spare. I then have the whole group support the summariser to sum up what they had read. American and Australian/UK spelling included.
I have broken down the writing clusters and NAPLAN expectations, to create a set of posters to be used as a 'Bump it Up Wall' in my classroom. I find that punctuation is one of the areas that the students really struggle with. I use this visual learning tool to hand over the learning to the students and encourage them to drive their own learning. They can submit their writing for review at any time to see if they can move up a cluster. Laminate your class names and these posters. Use some blu-t
