We would like to introduce ourselves as Petra & Brooke. We are two passionate Primary School teachers who have made the move from NSW to teach up in The Sunshine State of QLD.

Time Connectives for Persuasive Paragraph Writing
I have found it so hard trying to find the perfect resource for my visual learning wall to help my students expand their knowledge of time connectives. Too often my students would use 'firstly, secondly, thirdly and finally' when writing an exposition or persuasive paragraph. Not anymore! I have made 3 posters to help start off each of their argument paragraphs:

School Magazine Choice Board Aligned with the NSW Literacy Continuum
I created this choice board as an independent guided reading group activity for my stage 3 BYOD class. Each activity has ICT integrated within it and reference to the NSW Comprehension Clusters and Markers. Each activity is worth a select number of points which I award the students using class dojo.

In my class I use the Capacity Matrix, a Quality learning pedagogy, to drive student led learning. The students follow the NSW continuum of key ideas in maths (I choose the focus for the term based on our school scope and sequence) to explore, discover and learn on their own.
These posters provide the steps required to undertake their learning journey and all students set their book work out in this structure. It makes their learning easy to follow and organised. Every teachers dream!

Super 6 Focus on Reading Dice Comprehension Game
My kids love to play and this game makes learning fun and easy.
The kids read their passage or text and on conclusion they throw the dice once to determine the strategy and again to determine which question they will answer. The kids take turns reading then answering the questions. I then select a few kids at the end of the guided reading session to share what their groups responses were. This really makes them want to listen to each other.

Reciprocal Reading Group Recording Sheet
Use this recording sheet to guide your reciprocal reading groups. Each day the students will fill our their section as they rotate their jobs. I then have the whole group support the summariser to sum up what they had read. American and Australian/UK spelling included.

We would like to introduce ourselves as Petra & Brooke. We are two passionate Primary School teachers who have made the move from NSW to teach up in The Sunshine State of QLD.
Between us, we have over 19 years teaching experience across Prep/Kindy to Year 7.
Teaching style
Both of us have taught in a wide range of settings including BYOD, Gifted Education, Special Needs, Cross-Stage, Multi-Grade and straight grade-based classes.
Additional biographical information
We have created @seastarscreate so that we can share our love for creating engaging resources and lessons to use in the classroom.
Why the name @seastarscreate? Well Petra is a bit of a nerd and loves the galaxy and Brooke is a beach bum who loves the ocean. We hope you enjoy our creations as much as we love creating them.
