Experience

Urban and rural accomplished grades 5 - 12 Math Teacher. I currently teach High School Mathematics, including traditional high school curricula (algebra—calculus path) and applied mathematics (medical mathematics and personal finance), from Foundational Math appropriate for students who need to boost their problem-solving and content skills to students who enroll in AP Calculus.

Teaching style

I strive to create materials for ALL learners, including high-achieving/Advanced Work Class/Honors/AP students, students with documented needs (IEP/504/educational plans), and students who are multi-lingual.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) with a concentration in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership. I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in Boston Public Schools in the 2019-2020 school year.

My own education history

I earned a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in 2024. My dissertation focuses on collaborating to write a curriculum that helps students develop academic and social-emotional skills in a mathematics classroom. I also expanded on how the same principles could be applied to all content areas, grades 5 - 12. I focused on creating appropriate curriculum resources, structures, and routines for all kinds of learners (honors students, multilingual learners, and students with documented plans/IEPs/504s).

Additional biographical information

Prior to public school teaching, I was a research mathematician. I bring upper-level mathematics into the public school classroom through low-threshold/high-ceiling tasks. All students have the right to access high-level thinking.
