Students use the divisibility rules for numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 to play the game. Each student gets a copy of the sheet to record their numbers and the winner of each round. Students are instructed to fill in two charts by researching common bacterial and viral diseases (separate charts for bacterial and viral). They are instructed to research how each disease can be transmitted or how each disease effects the body. This activity can then be followed up with students completing a more in depth research project about a disease of their choosing.
Students read about Athens and Sparta in an organized chart, answer 20 questions about the chart, then organize similarities and differences in a Venn diagram. At the end of the lesson, students decide whether they would rather be Athenian or Spartan and explain why.
Cut out each card and have students match the Article number with the description. This works as a quick and easy review game. Students can play against each other or play by themselves to study and see how quickly they can match them. Of course, laminating them before cutting is recommended but not necessary.
