Monster Month - My Students Look Forward to It Every Year
October is my favorite month of the year!
Each year I have challenge students to write articles for my "Transylvania Times" newspaper that I (or actually my friend Witcheena) edits for us to read on the last day in October.
It's completely optional but most students enjoy the challenge. They get coupons for writing fantasy/space/monster stories, monster travel, sports, or fashion articles, Dear Scabby letters (with replies) that give advice to solve monster problems, and Haunt Ads that buy or

Shining moments were reading the letters written by my students recommending me for awards I received including: Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Education, Oregon Science Teachers Association Teacher of the Year, Oregon Public Broadcasting Technology Teacher of the Year, Tektronix/Oregon Museum of Science and Industry Teacher of the Year, American Electronics Association Teacher of the Year.
