This is a student directed speech and language rubric for active listening skill development. The student is able to rate themselves and see progress. It may be used with IEP goals to measure progress and as a nice visual for student, staff, and parents.

I have worked that past 17 years in the public school setting with elementary and middle school students. I have also worked with ages birth-adult in home health services and high school age students with developmental disabilities.
I have completed the Social Thinking Mentor Training at the Michelle Winner’s Center for Social Thinking.
Teaching style
I believe that children need to feel safe, nurtured, and cared for before they can fully be open to learning. Personal relationships with each of my students is something that I strive for. I also want all of my students to know that there may be frustration in learning and that is okay and part of the process. Making learning enjoyable and incorporating as many learning styles/modes of teaching into my lessons is a goal I'm always aiming for.
