I stumbled across a number of photographs of women in science over the years. I was inspired to create a project based on these photographs (which I am hanging around my classroom). You can use any female scientists you would like. I made sure there is enough I can assign a different one to each student, however I do have fairly small classes (I am using this with my 8th graders - there are 6 of them - and my 7th graders - there are 12 of them). I created this little mini book for my students to learn about different types of maps in our geography unit in social studies. I print this 2 sided, flip on the long edge, so the pictures of each type of map is next to the reading about that type of map. They typically work with a partner on this and there are comprehension questions at the end of the packet.

I created this sorting activity for my life science students this year when we covered plant and animal cells. The instructions are on the next slide. I had them sort and then create a key of some kind that would help someone sort them into the correct category. They then gave it to a classmate with these cards to see if it made sense and that classmate could follow it. Teacher instructions are on the last slide, including print instructions.
