In this activity, you will take the poem "Casey at the Bat" and analyze each stanza. It can be used as a whole group, small group, or individual activity depending on how the teacher wants to use it. It is designed to be used before a first cold read. For differentiation purposes, the questions for some stanzas are more difficult than others.

The story is included. I used this as a pre-reading exercise. I have students to complete the questions before reading the story. There is a word search with key at end of lesson - this is usually how I start the lesson. The key to the word search also includes definitions. The activity could take 1-3 days
