About the store
I have 20+ years of experience teaching grades 7 - 12, math and physics. I've spent the majority of the last several years teaching calculus and AP Calculus though I've also taught general and AP Physics 1 for a number of years. Due to a lack of curriculum support and resources, I've had to create my own material over the years to better support my students. It is my hope that you and your students find my material useful and helpful as well.

AP/Honors Physics Summer Assignment

This is a comprehensive review of number sense and operations, algebra skills (including solving for a variable, evaluating expressions, and graphing), and some geometry, while also introducing some of the key equations for AP Physics 1.

Calculus - Ch 1 Review - Limits

This review packet contains 16 questions regarding limits. There are a variety of question types including *completing an input-output table *evaluating equations (both left end, right end, and overall limits) *graphical analysis regarding limits *graph sketching I use this packet as a review prior to the Ch 1 test over limits.

Constant Velocity Car Lab - Pre-lab discussion

This is the powerpoint that supports and precedes the constant velocity car lab for physics or algebra to introduce linear graphs and interpret their meanings. Note: You'll need an object that travels at constant velocity in order to complete the corresponding lab. A battery powered toy car works well for this lab.
Preview of Motion graphs with animations

Motion graphs with animations

Powerpoint presentation for graphs representing linear motion. Various graphs of both linear and accelerated motion are included.
Preview of Calculus notes - The chain rule part 3 - chain rule with product and quotient

Calculus notes - The chain rule part 3 - chain rule with product and quotient

This is the 3rd and part of the notes covering the chain rule. These notes include 8 examples of the use of the chain rule combined with the product rule and quotient rule. There are 4 examples of chain rule + product rule and 4 examples of chain rule + quotient rule.

Constant velocity car pre-lab and summary

Constant velocity car lab pre-lab, summary, and teacher guide. Discussion and reflection questions are also included on the last page.
Preview of worksheet position-time graph analysis and key

worksheet position-time graph analysis and key

This worksheet provides quite the comprehensive analysis of position-time graphs. There are 16 specific questions covering distance, displacement, speed, and velocity referencing for four different x-t graphs. This also serves as a great study guide for the linear motion unit.

Calculus Notes - The derivative and the tangent line problem (part 2 of 3))

This is a continuation of my notes from 2.1. This set continues using the limit process to find the derivative of a few different function types including polynomial, rational, and root functions. Additionally, derivative notation is introduced such as f'(x), dy/dx, etc. There are a total of 8 exercises/practice problems, which take a good amount of time to get through as the limit process is a bit time consuming.
Preview of Calculus Notes - basic differentiation (part 1 of 2)

Calculus Notes - basic differentiation (part 1 of 2)

These notes walk the student through basic differentiation of polynomials, basic trig (sin & cos) functions, and root functions. There are 15 examples/practice questions in total, which includes one graph (constant function). The basic derivative rules presented in these notes are 1. constant 2. power rule 3. negative exponents 4. roots 5. trig (sin & cos)

Geometry Notes for section 1.1 (Big Ideas Math) - Student Edition

This is a simple note sheet containing 4 examples for the first section in the Big Ideas Geometry text. Although I made this note sheet based on Big Ideas, it could also be adopted for other texts as well, of course.

Calculus Notes - Derivative and the tangent line problem (part 3 of 3)

This is the 3rd part of the derivative and tangent line problem notes based on section 2.1, Larson 10e. Pg 1 - Includes two examples of graphs of functions that are continuous, but whose derivatives are not continuous (absolute value and cube root). I use this for a discussion about continuity vs. differentiability. Pg 2 - Includes three examples of the graph of f(x) adjacent to f'(x) for a side-by-side comparison. I use this to explain how the graph of f'(x) is generated by using tangent line

Calculus Notes - continuity and one-sided limits (part 3)

This is part 3 of continuity and one-sided limits. I also included an additional example using the intermediate value theorem, which was introduced in part 2 of this set of notes. The assignment that appears on the solution key is based on our text book, 'Calculus' by Larson, 10e.
Preview of interpreting distance-time graphs - linear motion V2

interpreting distance-time graphs - linear motion V2

This is the other version of the worksheet that I use after a linear motion activity to reinforce the concepts of constant velocity produces a graph that has a steady slope, slope of a graph shows the speed, and the y-intercept shows where an object began moving with respect to a reference point (starting line). The worksheet has two x-t graphs, each of which has two linear curves representing two different objects. There are five questions associated with each graph.

Calculus Notes - The tangent line problem (part 1)

These are my notes for section 2.1 of Calculus by Larson. The notes begin with reviewing what a tangent line is via a couple of diagrams, then moves into the development of the formula for how to determine the slope of the tangent line. On the back, there are a total of four practice questions which include linear and a simple quadratic function.

worksheet - position vs. time graph - interpreting story problem

On this worksheet (or quiz) the student is asked to interpret a short story about a student going from their house to the bus stop. It incorporates changes in speed and direction. The speed of the student is constant when in motion so knowledge of accelerated motion is not required. The student has to decide on the relative slope of line segments and where to plot certain points on the provided x-t graph to maintain consistency with the story.

Calculus Notes The Chain Rule part 1 of 3

These notes cover the basics of the chain rule including the definition. There are 8 examples which include polynomial, rational (constant numerator), and root functions. Additionally, there is plenty of space to work each example.
Preview of Calculus Notes - basic differentiation (part 2 of 2)

Calculus Notes - basic differentiation (part 2 of 2)

Part 2 of my basic differentiation notes consists of 6 example/practice questions based on the definition of average vs. instantaneous rates of change. The modes of the questions represented within these notes are tabular and equation based. Four of the questions refer to a ballistic trajectories modeled by quadratic functions. For these questions, students are asked to determine the average and instantaneous rate of change given a time interval and value of time.

Geometry Notes for section 1.1 (Big Ideas Math) - Teacher Edition

This is the teacher's edition for my Geometry note sheet for section 1.1, originally created to supplement the Big Ideas text.

Calculus Notes The Chain Rule prt 2

This is part 2 of 3 of my notes for the chain rule. These notes include trig functions and the chain rule. There are 8 example questions with plenty of space to work solutions.

Experience

I've spent the majority of the last several years teaching calculus and AP Calculus though I've also taught general and AP Physics 1 for a number of years. Due to a lack of curriculum support and resources, I've had to create my own material over the years to better support my students. Teaching style

I have embraced the guided inquiry style of teaching. Inquiry, however, is quite time consuming. I therefore use supplemental direct instruction lessons about half of the time.
