About the store
After completing my bachelors degrees in both Biology and Chemistry, I went on and completed my Masters in Education, with a specialization in science education. I was a public HS science teacher in both urban and rural schools for nearly 5 years in addition to serving as a the head instructor at a private institute for mentally and physically disabled children during my summers. I then left the public system and became an education specialist for the Federal Bureau of Prisons to further pursue my goals of helping those less fortunate and in great need of a strong education. I currently am in charge of coordinating all education programs as well as creating new curricula and counseling inmates on their education goals/aspirations. I went into education because I love helping others and want to share the wonderful world that science can be!

This is a brainstorming activity which first requires students to brain storm a list of local environmental issues impacting their hometown region as well as a list of issues the know of impacting our planet globally. Once students finish individually brainstorming, they then team up to share their ideas and further build upon their lists. At the conclusion of the activity, students will share their lists with the class. Great activity to use when introducing environmental science in order to as

This is a paper based science lab which requires students to analyze the details of a fictional island called "Mythical Island" in order to create an animal or plant that is adapted to this harsh land. Students must draw a colored picture of their animal/plant on poster board and provide descriptions of how its anatomical features enable it to survive on "Mythical Island". This is a great lab that gives students creative freedom. Students are then encouraged to present their organisms to the cla

This is a great template for students to fill out when researching environmental issues currently in the news. It is broken up into sections (title of article, article location, article summary, and student response to the article). This helps students who may have reading/writing difficulty in organizing and presenting their thoughts. Students must find their own news article, complete this template, and then I always have the students share their findings the next day in class before turning t

This power point provides information on how natural selection/evolution result in adaptation. This power point also covers co-evolution and extinction. This is a great tool to use when introducing adaptations and teaching students why organisms differ based on their environment. There are lots of vibrant images which help students better understand these often difficult topics to grasp. I use this power point as a tool to deliver notes to students on this topic before beginning labs/worksheets
