Parallel and Perpendicular Slope Exploration
Perpendicular and Parallel Slope Exploration gives students a chance to discover the relationship of slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. They will use Desmos slider bar tools to do so. (Click here to see an example of how slider bars work.) Students will record their discovered parallel and perpendicular equations in tables. Circle Similarity Investigation for Google Classroom
Given 4 pairs of circles centered at the origin, students will explore that all circles are similar. To do this students will find the radius of each circle, then calculate the ratio of the areas and circumferences. On the 5th slide, students are asked to draw their own circles not centered at the origin to see if their discoveries still hold true. My philosophy of teaching is to find different ways for students to learn. I believe it is important to show students that math does apply to the "real world" and that yes, indeed, math can be fun.
