This PowerPoint allows the teacher and students to review the parts of the computer (either in a lab or in a center). The PowerPoint uses clip art and labels. Then, the students are to match up the label with the correct computer part by clicking and dragging the words and placing them in the correct box (or the teacher can print out the PowerPoint and first graders can physically cut and past the words on the diagram). Newly added: Students will have the opportunity to learn about the basi

This is a full art lesson on Alexander Calder, and his MOBILES. You will find that using PowerPoint with cross curricular connections in both math and language arts makes this lesson a perfect one. This lesson was used for second grade, but there are applications for kindergarten and first grade. This PowerPoint builds background, discusses mobiles, shapes (organic and geometric)! This is a wonderful lesson with plenty of visuals, entrance and exit tickets!

BACK TO SCHOOL: “GET TO KNOW YOUR CLASSMATE CARDS” Rationale: The more your students are able to know about each other, the more likely they are to respect each other. Using these cards can reduce the amount of behavior problems in your class by showing that all students have strengths, skills, interests, and worth. When students create their own trading card, they are increasing their own self confidence through actualization of skills, interest and merit. With the popularity of sport cards

Having trouble motivating your students with adding and subtracting double (or triple digit) addends. Use this great file. I created this excel spreadsheet to allow student to click and drag house layouts, furniture, and even plants to an area of land. Once they choose an item, they type it in the spread sheet and tally it up. There is a self check feature on each page to see if they added or subtracted correctly. If you have extra time or you want to turn it into a game, print out the car

"Kindness Matters Banner" Thank you for your interest in this project. This is a fun way to build up the moral at your school. Teach your students to show more respect and kindness towards each other by creating Kindness Banners. As each student builds their own triangle and add it to the banner, their hard work is a testament to what team work and kindness can accomplish. • This PowerPoint comes with a word bank for students to practice their thoughtful writing. • There are examples tha

I have used this template many times in class and the students love it. Often, I have the students create a comic strip of their short story, summary, or sequence of events. I feel that this comic strip Idea allows them to visualize what they plan on writing about before they start writing. After the students complete their comic strip; I have the students work in pairs to look over the comic strip Look for missing events Check to see if the story line is clear Check to see if the setting is cl

I used this management device for all of my students the first several years in teaching and it worked out great. Students use the Ice cubes (white sticky notes) to keep track of the positive things that they do throughout the day/ week (obviously the focus is on positive behavior). Students keep the ice cubes on a special measuring tool to see how cool they were that particular day. Kids really liked that they had the opportunity to earn positive rewards and keep track of them. Too often nega

This two slide PowerPoint outlines cooperative group work positions or "jobs" with a detailed description and a picture. These cards have really worked out in the classroom 1st-5th grades. I have noticed that by using these cards (I recommend laminating them) during collaboration time it does: Limits conflicts with in groups Focus students on their own specific jobs Keeps each student responsible Can be used to rotate jobs per activity (allowing each student their own chance to shine)
