Plant Unit Vocabulary Drag and Drop for Pre and Post Unit
This simple vocabulary drag/drop is a set of Google Slides that students will use before a unit and again at the end of the unit. Words are on the right and left of the slide (editable by the teacher), and students click on each to place them in one of three categories (I know it/own it, I sort of know it, I do not know this word). They revisit this same activity at the end of the unit, and if you choose, they also write about one word that they went from not knowing to now being part of their

My Sudoku Book
I used this for my 1st graders, but would use it for all grades as a reminder. I printed this on separate pages. I then glued them as the cover and inside cover of a file folder so kids could keep sudokus. Together we filled in the boxes on the inside cover to remind them there can only be one of each in every Column, Row and Box. I use quadrant with 3rd-5th.

Energy Conversions Table
This worksheet practices energy conversions which aligns with NC 7th grade science standards. Students are asked to consider every day objects as demonstrating a conversion of energy. For example a blender takes electricity and produces mechanical energy which blends your delicious smoothie. :-)
This sheet can be shrunk for interactive notebooks, or used as an assesment. Two, slightly different levels and an answer key are included.

Areas of Social Studies Cut and Paste
This activity, good for 4th-7th grades, is used to review the five areas of Social Studies: Culture, History, Economics, Geography and Government. I used this lesson after a jigsaw activity with the whole class on the five areas. Students then worked in groups to figure out this cut and paste activity. Great discussion followed, as a few descriptions can be categorized in different ways. This activity takes 30-60 minute, depending on the debrief and how efficient your students are at cutting and

Visual Models to find Equivalent Fractions
This interactive note sheet, intended to be cut and glued into a math journal, shows three different visual methods to finding common denominators. I intended to be a reference for more difficult common denominators. Also, I used it as a review after teaching all the methods, to make sure we had a solid model of the visual methods in our notes. Using colored pencils is a nice touch!

Additional biographical information
The name "Stuff and Things," is a tribute to my first 5th grade class. We discussed the need to be more descriptive and avoid saying 'stuff and things' in our writing and speaking and then it became our inside joke. So, since my creations do not fit nicely into one box, they are stuff and things.
I currently teach K-8 STEM, allowing me a great big swath of creative freedom. I've taught middle school science, 5th grade and 2nd grade. I started on TPT when we all only gave each other free resources and I loved the genuine sharing for our students benefits.
