Many schools are practicing school lockdown drills to prepare the students for intruders on campus. This can be a very scary experience for children, especially for children with autism. This book was used in a general education Kindergarten class and proved to be very successful. Can be used with all students with special needs and general education programs up to second
Living and teaching in California means we have a few Earthquake Drills a year. This is a very scary thing for most students, especially our students on the Autism spectrum.

I hope this story helps your students as much as it does mine!
These cards correspond with a Social Story about School Lock Down Drills. These cards are to be laminated, cut out and placed on a ring. Keep these cards in the hiding location in your classroom. This way you can show your students the icon card rather than having to speak during the drill. These cards will increase the safety of your class during a lock down drill.
