After we teach proportions, we teach the percent proportion along with its many applications. This is a homework package with 5 homework pages about discounts, tax, tip, and so on. One page is a mixture of proportion and percent problems so students must identify how to solve it. Each page contains more than one homework so you conserve paper. But you don't have to stop there! Use them as do nows (bell ringers/work), exit passes, or quizzes.

For this activity, I gathered a bunch of flyers from holiday sales and such. Then I gave the students the challenge of spending $500 on items they found in the flyers. I like to create activities that use the wall space in my classroom so students can get up and move.
