Using Ratios and Rates to Solve Real World Math Word Problems Task
Students will solve real world math word problems by using a ratio – table or double number line to make comparisons. Furthermore, students will have to describe rate relationships between equivalent ratios, complete a ration-table by making equivalent ratios, and explain the reasoning behind their solutions. This task can be used as an activity and/or assessment. It is great for formal or informal observations.

Greatest Common Factor Task
Students will help a girl arrange her goodie bags with candy by finding the greatest common factor of 3 different candies. They will also help her create teams with captains and players by finding the greatest common factor. Further more students will have to discover how much of each candy is in each bag and how many captains and players there are on each team. Experience
I am a middle school teacher for the city of New York. I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Math, English, Science & Social Studies. I have been educating since 2005. While in the classroom, I have coached both students and teachers.
Teaching style
As a teacher, my goal is to make learning FUN! I provide children with strategies on how to learn so they can comprehend what is being taught. I instill knowledge that each child needs in order to be successful. I enjoy small group instruction and creating tiered tasks. There is nothing better than seeing the light bulbs of your students go off. The goal of my tasks is to create engaging activities that challenge students to think and apply academic concepts that inevitably produce open discourse amongst the students.
