This packet contains 24 task cards that are designed to give students more practice in identifying rules and patterns in tables and filling in blank spots. Extending patterns in tables has been one of our most difficult TEKS at the 3rd grade level. Students needs as much practice as possible in identifying a rule, applying that rule and carrying the function out throughout the entire table. These cards include problems where students must solve for: - elapsed time with known ending time - elapsed time with unknown ending time. I use these both as a whole class activity and then again in small group math centers for those students that need some extra help.

Hi! I made this activity for my students when I saw they were struggling with ordering and comparing numbers and figuring out those 'in-between' numbers. Since our standards only have them ordering and comparing into the thousands, this activity mixes hundreds and thousands. This was a whole day activity for my students but would work as a test review, homework assignment or math center.

I created this activity as a review for my students. We had already introduced this unit early on in the multiplication unit. This served as a refresher for most students and to those students who struggled with this particular skill, the blank tables really helped to focus them on the relationships in the problem. By that time, students have had plenty of practice rounding whole numbers. The problem solving aspect of the unit has students applying their rounding skills but also identifying the proper operation to go along with each problem.
