This is a project for 3-6 students who are studying rocks and minerals in Science. Included in this detailed packet are planning guides for the collection of rocks, classifying them, identifying the rocks using field guides, and eventually displaying them. Students pick one environment of those that are explained. These are described in packet. Students are to create an animal that is going to be strong and resilient enough to survive in that environment. They need to consider how this animal is going to stay warm or cool, what it is going to eat, how it is going to get its food and water, and how it is going to care for its young to make sure they survive.
This article, created in Microsoft Publisher, details the different ways teachers can have their students read with them in a guided reading group. It outlines echo reading, choral reading, and many more. Since research shows us that round robin reading is ineffective, this newsletter also includes quotes from experts on why teachers should not be using this method. This is a great piece for teacher information!
