Here is a chance to practice perimeter, measurement, and develop additional vocabulary. These are fun homework activities for students to do by measuring things in their house with a unit of measure they find at home. Later, they can revisit the activity using inches or centimeters. Since it is tactile, active and a relevant homework activity, even your most reluctant students may choose to do it. For our ESL students, it is also an activity to build their vocabulary for math and specific items

There never seems to be enough practice pages for grammar. This page is designed for students to practice changing from present tense to present progressive. As students fill in the chart, they will need to check for tense and whether the subject is plural or singular. To make it easy for you, or students to correct, an answer key is provided.

There never seems to be enough practice pages! I made these for teaching my students when to use A or AN in a sentence. These are handy for extra pages to use as homework, practice, intervention or ESL students. It's an easy paper for a sub to work with. These pages compliment the free A and An page in my store.

This is a practice page for learning about Adverbs. I have also made a list of common adverbs that students can choose to use in their writing to make it more interesting. The list can be glued together to make a long, vertical banner for the children to refer to. I laminated it once, and used it for over 15 years before I needed to replace it. I hope it will be helpful to you too.

Reading comprehension is a challenge to teach, let alone find homework pages for my reluctant readers to do. I began to focus on less common animals in order to engage my students. Also, I wanted quick, doable homework pages for my students to use. The main idea and supporting details is a good place to start. I hope you find them helpful.

This is a fun way for students to learn and understand what perimeter is. In addition, students can learn that anything can be used as a unit of measure, as long as it is consistent. By being a somewhat fun homework assignment, there is a better chance your students will do it. A fun activity for combining tactile learning, and vocabulary development with mathematics,

Word searches are a fun, engaging way to develop vocabulary. They make great cooperative learning activities or reading centers when doing rotations (or individual assessments.) In my years as a primary teacher, and Reading Specialist, I have found that traditional word searches that go backwards or diagonally, cause my ELL's and remedial students a great deal of difficulty. So, these word searches have each word listed twice, once horizontally and once vertically. For the fun of it, I have h

Help your ESL, intervention and primary level students learn about prepositions and location. -Do a mini directed drawing by having students tip the letter D on its back. Add nose, ears, whiskers, eye and feet. -Draw the mouse above the cheese. -Have students write the sentence "The mouse is above the cheese". Continue in this vein, having students draw the mouse in various locations around the cheese, followed by writing the sentence. Run this page back to back. F

About the store

Experience

I am a retired reading specialist, intervention and 1st through 5th grade teacher. I hope to share my personally created materials with you in order to make your busy lives a little easier.

Teaching style

I believe in addressing multiple intelligences throughout instruction. As a teacher, I ran a tight ship with a structured environment. I doled out lots of love and encouragement, as well as self expression throughout the day. I feel that most of the time children can learn from the natural consequences of their behavior, both, positive and negative. I believe strongly that all teaching should have ELD imbedded. It's just plain good teaching that all children need.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Other than a Teacher of the Year award from PTA in 2005, I haven't had any awards and honors. I can honestly say that I have had many rewards, as parents and students have come back over the years to tell me how much they appreciate all that they learned while in my class.

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts: English and Liberal Studies Masters Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on reading.

Additional biographical information

I've been married 40 years, raised two boys, and now have a fantastic grandson. One son has suffered with dyslexia and the other with ADHD. I have a lot of empathy for parents and teachers trying to cope with these sorts of problems, hence my interest in reading, ELD, learning disabilities, and behavior modification.
