Partners of 5 Shake, Spill, & Color Game

This little freebie is for my kinders to better understand that numbers can be made in several different ways. We have been working on the numbers 0-5 so far this year, and this activity allows them to work in partners using 5 double-sided counters to spill out and form a number sentence (4+1=5) and then search for that number sentence on the game board's grid. Once they find it, they can color it in with a designated color. Then it is their partner's turn and the process repeats. When all o

Ten-Frame Turkey Trot

This is a packet of ten-frames designed around turkey clipart images. There are a total of four sets of work mats, with 6 in each set. On each work mat is a box with a polka-dot border. There are sets of cards with matching borders that should be used with those ten-frames. One set of cards has the digit and a set of dots, another set has just digits, and the third set has just sets of dots. St. Patrick's Day Shake and Spill for the Partners of 5, 6, and 10

This activity was designed to help my students recognize and understand that two numbers can be put together to make a larger number. Since I have so many different levels of ability in my room, I wanted an activity that could be easily differentiated. Students will need double-sided counters and BINGO dotters to complete this activity. They will use their sorting mats to help make the number sentence, and then find it on the recording sheet and dot it. I hope you littles enjoy this activity!

The student with the highest number has to find either the sum of the two cards or the difference between them. Included are two sets of cards, one set with only a numeral from 1-10 and the other with a numeral and a set to match. There is also a very simple counting mat which students can use to help them find the sum or difference

Experience

I am entering my thirteenth year as an educator. I started in Pre-Kindergarten, graduated to fourth grade where I spent a great 5 years, 5 years in kindergarten, and am headed into my second year in first grade. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the elementary school that I teach in. The staff and students there quickly became my family, and I hope to spend all of my teaching years at my school.

Teaching style

I am a lover of learning, and one of my favorite things to do is sit down and think of creative and engaging activities for my kinders. I believe they need to interact with each other as much as possible, lots of hands-on learning, and I do my best to instill a love of the written word in my students. I am looking forward to continuing to grow and learn something new every day!
