Experience

I have been an Early Childhood Educator for over 18 years and have worked in many different roles under that title including ABA Therapist, Infant and Child Development Consultant, Resource Teacher, Kindergarten Educator, Program Teacher, and Early Learning Supervisor. I have a background in Graphic Design and have always found it easier to make my own resources instead of searching for something just right! Early Learning is a passion and I am interested in sharing what I have tried and tested over the years, to help other ECE's teach their best!

Teaching style

I believe that young children gain the most from child centered programming that meets their developmental needs. I believe that when trust comes first, learning will follow, and with one of a kind resources, it is easier to engage with children and make learning fun.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have an ECE diploma, Certification as Resource Teacher/Early Interventionist with high honours, Certification as ECE Administration with high honours.

My own education history

I completed my ECE diploma 25 hours from my home in Ottawa Ontario. I put myself through school working with children in an "out of home/In-home" respite care service with children who had developmental disabilities. I moved back to my small town in Northwestern Ontario when I was done college and began to build my resume working through many different titles within the early learning field. I worked my way up from program teacher to supervisor of a licensed childcare centre and have 6 years experience teaching in a kindergarten classroom! Most recently I branched out into the word of Autism as an ABA Thearpist and Infant and Child Development Consultant for an agency called Firefly. I gained two additional certifications through online learning and I am now looking for ways that I can support and grow other ECE's in this rewarding (and sometimes challenging) profession.

Additional biographical information

I live in a small town in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It gets very cold here! I am married and I am the mother to two beautiful daughters. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to take my career in a new direction with Teacher Pay Teachers.
