Use this activity to get to know your students through their writing, drawing, and creativity. This would be a great activity to put on your students' desks during the first few weeks of school. In fact, this is what I have planned for my class! First through fifth grade is included.

This intricate Growth Mindset coloring page is sure to bring out the creative side of students. Coloring is a great way to calm down, practice fine motor skills, and even meditate! My students get so excited when I say that they get to assign their parent/guardian homework. This is so important to me because it allows me to give their adult a voice right away and be included at the start of their year. I learn so much about my students from the responses I get from their adult(s). It allows me to understand better where my student is coming from and make that connection immediately.
This activity is simple and fun. It may be a bit messy too! Your students will first be put into groups and then be given the listed materials. Be sure to have something to contain the toothpaste mess. Your students will be asked to squeeze as much toothpaste as possible into the tray. Then the second challenge is getting the toothpaste back in. Discuss and pass out this half-sheet print out to discuss that words matter and what we say can't be taken back.
