Students will take a rubber stopper and attach it to the end of a string. They will then place the rope through a few inches of a piece of pvc pipe and place different weights on the end of a S-Hook. Students will swing the stopper around at a speed that will keep the weight from accelerating up or down. They will determine the rotational speed of the stopper and then compare it to the weight. The bundle provide a presentation to walk the students through the lab and the experiment itself.

This is a perfect way to finish your energy unit in Physics. This lab gives the students a true understanding of the conservation of energy. It is a very difficult process to find the acceleration due to gravity having someone stand on top of a chair and drop and object while you time how long it takes to hit the ground.
