This slideshow covers all cultural elements presented on the unit’s country of study, including the cultural readings and the “Compare with your World Questions.”  There is a student template of notes available for purchase in which the students can copy the notes from the slideshow and record their answers to the cultural comparative questions.  After purchasing, consider adding maps, images, and Youtube videos on different topics which will bring all of the culture taught in Avancemos to life.

Students will take a rubber stopper and attach it to the end of a string. They will then place the rope through a few inches of a piece of pvc pipe and place different weights on the end of a S-Hook. Students will swing the stopper around at a speed that will keep the weight from accelerating up or down. They will determine the rotational speed of the stopper and then compare it to the weight. The bundle provide a presentation to walk the students through the lab and the experiment itself.

This is a perfect way to finish your energy unit in Physics. This lab gives the students a true understanding of the conservation of energy. Each group will be given a bungee cord, which is nothing more than 6-8 rubber bands connected together. They will use a force meter to measure how much the rubber bands are stretched when a given force is applied. They will then determine the spring constant of their bungee cord. Every wonder how fast falling balls accelerate towards the ground? It is a very difficult process to find the acceleration due to gravity having someone stand on top of a chair and drop and object while you time how long it takes to hit the ground. The percent error is quite large. So my students and I decided to drop balls from heights ranging from 3-5 meters, so the percent error would drop a bit.
