Calculating Speed, Time, Distance, and Graphing Motion - Distance Time Graphs

This activity is centered around the concept of motion. This activity defines motion and gives instruction and examples on how it cat be calculated and graphed. This activity includes informational text on calculating and graphing motion as well as a variety of problems to check for understanding. There are problems that involve solving for speed, distance traveled, and time in motion. Distance vs. Time and Speed vs. Time graphs are discussed. Twelve distance vs. time graphs and twelve spe

Graphing: Distance vs. Time Graphs: Creating Distance vs. Time Graphs 5.P.1.3

Students will use given distance and time data to create distance vs. time graphs and illustrate the motion of an object. Students must accurately plot the data given and then accurately describe the motion of the object. This activity is differentiated. Students may either write their own descriptions from the graphs they create, or they can select a description from the choices provided and cut and paste it in to place. This is a great way to apply mathematics concepts and force and moti

Bar Graphs

This product is four pages of bar graph practice and assessment. This product contains two single bar graphs with ten questions that accompany each of them. Various scales are used. Students are required interpret the information represented on the graph. Students will have to perform addition and subtraction within 100 to answer many of the questions. Students will have to make estimations and comparisons of data. I have also included a double bar graph for the students that quickly maste

Line Graphs

This is a four page activity on line graphs. This product included three line graphs with ten questions each. There is also a page included for students to make their own line graph. Each graph includes a different scale. Addition, Subtraction, and Comparing skills are stressed in these activities. ****PLEASE READ***** This product is included in one of my other products titled, "Graphs and Graphing Data: Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, and Pie Charts." That product is much larger and includes ad

The Scientific Method / Raisin Lab / Fun Science Activity / Science Vocabulary

This is a great way to introduce your students to the scientific method. Students will use raisins to conduct a scientific observation and learn how to follow the procedure outlined by the scientific method. This activity will guide you and your students throughout the processes involved in the scientific method and allow them to access some higher order thinking. I use this activity in the first weeks of school in my own classroom. This is a great way for kids to make a physical connection

Decimals - Subtracting and Dividing Decimal Numbers With Distance Time Tables

This activity is jam packed with physical science and mathematics concepts. Informational text is provided on distance-time tables and an example of how to use the data to interpret the motion of an object is included. There are three questions that follow the text and example. Each question will require your students to subtract decimal numbers, divide with decimal numbers, determine scale, calculate speed, and interpret motion from information provided by a distance-time table.
