With this emergent reader, you will be able to teach and reinforce the Common Core standard of describing the relationship between illustrations and the text in which they appear (Kinder reading standard #7 - Integration of Knowledge and Ideas).
Students will also be able to practice handwriting, as it is done in a font over which they trace the words.
It is a fun way for students to make their own book and show meaning of the text through easy illustrations or cut and paste shapes.

After reading Old Black Fly, or watching the YouTube video from The Itsy Bitsy Reader, http://bit.ly/3uCahHw, HERE, make a class book of all of the places where a fly could land. Print one page for each student in your class. Students draw their picture and write where their fly lands, either with guidance and support. Then, staple them into a book! Kids love to re-read familiar text! Great sight word practice, comprehension, reading left to right, and top to bottom.
