The Standards-Based Classroom

Do your students struggle to see how math is applicable in the real world?  In this open-ended project, students are challenged to research a topic of interest to them and identify some related mathematical elements.  Students use countable/measurable data to share their topic with peers. Through loosely guided research and teacher coaching, students must use critical thinking to find the math in the topics they love. This is a great ‘getting to know you’ project for math class.

This document includes printable cards with the new California Arts Standards for Music. They include the Anchor Standard, Essential Question, Enduring Understanding, and grade level standards for grades 4, 5, and 6. These cards can be used on a bulletin board, in a pocket chart, or for planning.
