Third Grade Made FUN

This is a graphic organizer that I use with my third graders to help them better understand and apply the long division formula. Every year I have run into the same problem: my students are unable to conceptualize long division and have a lot of difficulty learning the steps. This graphic organizer has been PHENOMENAL for my students! Not only do they learn the process, they memorize the format and after practice- can independently solve long division without the use of a graphic organizer.

The Community Service Awareness Project was designed to teach children about how others have made differences either in the lives of others or within the community, and how they can as well. The lesson begins with a video (link) to an important and valuable charity in Africa. This opens the discussion about charities, their meaning and purpose. Group Evaluation helps students to reflect on their group work collaboration. Evaluates: - Speaking Softly - Listening to Each Other - Taking Turns - Encouraging Each Other - Doing our Jobs Also includes space for each group to write what they did well and what they need to work on for next time :)
