Students need extra practice in factoring complex trinomials. What better way to get them engaged then to spice up their practice with a little escape room adventure. Students are read a brief scenario and then factor their expression. They then look for their factors (clues) and record the number. Students struggle over creating linear expressions from the text of a word problem. To help them I have created two resources here. Analytical Geometry: Quadrilaterals and Triangles using Length and Slope Students pick a card that has a series of co-ordinates on one side and the shape these co-ordinates creates on the other. They they use the blank worksheets to graph the points. The worksheets act as graphic organizers so that students can structure the process in determining what shape it is using the length of the segments between the points and the slopes. Finding the area of a triangle using three points can be difficult for students because of the number of steps. This activity is designed to get students out of their seats a little and guide them to the solution. If they get stuck they can check the hints and be on their way to the answer.
