Complete Short Story Unit
This is the complete unit! I have included four assignments (found poem, fact file, character "sketch", and playbill) that have students focus on different aspects of short stories with rubrics.
Two comprehension reading assignments, two comprehension quizzes, definitions and a list of possible short stories. This unit provides a balance between engagement and comprehension.

Experience
I have been teaching for 8 years in the middle/junior high school level. I have primarily taught English Language Arts but I have also taught social studies.
Teaching style
I like students to be able to push themselves, create challenges and feel good about the work they are doing. Although I do use themed units for novel studies, I like to do a poetry and short story unit that is structured and has students completing similar assignments. I like to give students choice so that they will own their own learning and try to exceed their expectations.
My own education history
I have a degree in English with a minor in business and Asian Studies as well as a teaching degree.
