About the store
"Time Rewind" is a one-minute, cross-curricular, day-in-history audio capsule, produced and hosted by veteran broadcast journalist David Mendel. Mr. Mendel teaches history and pop culture using a fast-paced, entertaining montage of news clips, music, classic commercials, jingles, themes and other authentic audio. Since the 2014-15 academic year, "Time Rewind" has served as student announcement and radio station content and supported Social Studies/History/ELA and Digital Video Editing curricula at schools across the United States. Our bell ringers — known as "Time Rewind" Learning Companions, or TRLCs — facilitate guided classroom discussion, research and/or individual written responses and are designed to help students discover relatable connections to the past. Mr. Mendel's broadcast experience includes working at acclaimed all-news radio stations WEEI in Boston and KTRH in Houston, with many of his reports airing on CBS News. He spent several years as a television producer, developing award-winning educational programming for Baylor College of Medicine's "The Health Channel" as well as a nationally syndicated talk show. As a freelancer, Mr. Mendel produced medical features for NBC News and "Inside Edition." He also taught TV writing and production courses at The Art Institute of Houston. As an admirer of history and pop culture, Mr. Mendel created "Time Rewind" to transport students (and faculty) back to history-making and culturally defining events using sound. He describes his program as "time travel for your mind."
