This is the template I use for substitutes any time I have to be out. Everything in bold red is personal information related to your class.
You could edit this to make it very generic and put it in sheet protectors for a sub binder or edit and print hard copies each time you have a sub and place in a folder with copies for the day.
The resource includes:
- Introduction
- Schedule
- Notes area
- Class roster
- Medicines/accomodations
- Emergency instructions
- Dismissal list

This writing rubric has been super useful in our classroom and allows young students to visually know exactly how they are doing!
When a student finishes the final draft of their work, they first self-evaluate by using the "Me" column. They circle the smiley face that best fits how they felt they did regarding each item:
-Handwriting
-Capitalization
-Punctuation
-Finger Spaces
-Spelling
-Length
-Makes Sense/Organized
-Creative
Then, students trade the rubric and grade a friend's work. Finall
Foldables are an excellent way to organize knowledge!
Have students fold on the dotted line and cut on the solid black line to create.
The first foldable shows how it could be used to review different angles in math. Underneath the flap, students could draw an image of each angle and label the degrees.
The next two foldables (4-flap and 6-flap) are blank for your creativity!
Students can use this organizer to describe their personal values, beliefs and attitudes. When printed front-to-back, each page has 1 example and 7 boxes for student notes.
This is a fun, building-wide activity that can go all year!
Starting at the beginning of the year, have every staff member fill out and return one of the Secret Pal forms to one person. That person swaps the forms so everyone receives the form of someone else.
The goal is to send a small (less than $5) treat to your pal every month until a reveal celebration at the end of the year. You can also do this twice a year, and have two reveals.
Enjoy!

These resources are useful to young writers who need to see a strong visual as they create final products. The first is a 5 paragraph essay structure so that students know where to put the title, transition words, details and conclusion. The second is a checklist so that students can go back and edit their work or the work of others.
I put these into 3-pronged writing folders in heavy duty clear sheets so that students can reference them all year. They can also use dry erase markers to check i
